Colonial History
Santa Fe de Antioquia is a city with a notable colonial legacy. Founded in 1541, it served as the capital of the department of Antioquia until 1826. Location
The municipality of Santa Fe de Antioquia covers an area of ​​493 km² and is located in mountainous terrain that is part of the Central Andes mountain range. It is crossed by the Cauca and Tonusco rivers. Located in the northwestern region of Colombia, it is 61 kilometers west of Medellín, the capital of the department of Antioquia, at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level. It limits to the north with Giraldo and Buriticá, to the south with Anzá, to the east with Olaya, Sopetrán and Ebéjico, and to the west with Abriaquí and Caicedo.
